- Abstract
On the basis of radiocarbon dating of a representative series of organic material and analysis of the stratigraphy and inventory of Medieval sites excavated in the forest and forest-steppe Trans-Urals, the article corrects the scheme for the historical and cultural development of the region in the 5th–15th cc. The chronological position of Bakalda culture is determined within the 5th–15th cc. Analysis of pottery complexes from sites in the forest Trans-Urals, and the results of new investigations, allowed the authors to put forth the suggestion that Molchanovo and Yudino antiquities can be integrated into a single taxon – Yudino culture of the 7th–14th cc. The Late Medieval period was characterized by polyethnic population.
