- Abstract
- The author believes that BRICS is a geopolitical rather than an economic reality. The idea of creating an Alliance of the largest countries in the world arose at a time when the United States, during the presidency of George W. Bush, imagined itself to be the arbiters of the world's destinies. As a counterbalance to this dangerous policy, an Alliance of the world's largest countries – members of the UN security Council-was created: Russia, China, India, and Brazil. And this drew a line under the unipolar world. Subsequently, they were joined by the most developed country in Africa – South Africa.
