- Abstract
The analysis of Silvio’s headgear, the recurring image in The Shot, allows to approximately establish the time of the characters’ first duel. The headgear is likened to bonnet de police, thus referring the reader to the French translation of Ivanhoe, where a jester’s cap is compared to le bonnet de police d’un hussard de nos jours.
