Abstract

The article examines the negative consequences for Central Asia of the “chaotic flight” of the United States from Afghanistan in the summer of 2021 after an unsuccessful twenty-year war, the failure of Washington to create a “stable democracy” and its own capable armed forces in this country, the inability of Americans to abandon the universalism of their value system, the reaction of Russia and the member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) to this withdrawal and seizure of power by the Taliban in Afghanistan. It is also shown that, according to US intelligence, foreign terrorist groups in Afghanistan in the coming years may become so strong that they will be able to organize new terrorist attacks on US soil. This will be not only a political, but a complete military defeat for Washington in this country.
