Abstract

The article analyzes the trends in the development of food systems in Canada during their global transformation caused by the need to solve the global food problem. Canada is actively involved in the buildup of theoretical approaches to solving the problem of hunger and malnutrition in the world, creating a conceptual framework for this together with other developed countries. Despite the fact that the agri-food sector of Canada is highly developed and is able to provide its population with food, there are problems of different efficiency of food systems in the country and inequality in access to food for certain population categories, especially in the northern provinces. The authors provide a typology of Canada’s food systems and analyze their role in the economic life of the country. The food systems under study are sustainable agri-industrial, marine and inclusive indigenous. The article concludes that the significant changes in the food systems of Canada are highly consistent with the new paradigm of their transformation.
