Abstract

The article analyses the Canadian experience of the mobilization of human and material resources by the state during the first waves of the COVID-19 pandemic. The measures of the Federal government of Canada to support the national healthcare system, state financial and other support for Canadian citizens and certain vulnerable groups of the population, financial and other measures to support businesses, assistance to regions and territories of the country in a pandemic are analyzed. Canada is compared with other countries in terms of mobilizing state resources to support citizens and the economy in a pandemic, and the perception of the Canadian society of the federal government’s efforts to combat COVID-19 (the level of trust in key political institutions) is demonstrated. The measures of the Federal Government of Canada within the framework of the Canada’s COVID-19 Economic Response Plan are considered in detail.
