Abstract

After the parliamentary elections in September 2021 J. Trudeau's government began to reboot Canada's policy towards China. Despite extensive and extremely beneficial economic ties with China, the value of relations with the United States for Canada is much higher. A sharp rise in anti-Chinese sentiment in Canadian society, which took place during 2018-2021 due to the detention of two Canadian citizens in a Chinese prison, is also affecting this reboot. The statements and actions of the Trudeau government in the fall of 2021 indicate Canada's readiness to support and participate in the US strategy of containment of China.
